I joined Twitter 17 years ago and it helped shape my early career.

I locked my account and deleted the app when Musk set the place on fire, but I still logged in occasionally. I thought maybe he would lose money, and interest, and one day we could reclaim it. But he won't, and we can't.

Yesterday, I deleted my account completely. The few rational voices that remain are drowned out by toxic blue ticked screaming and crypto shilling. I hardly recognise it.

You'll find me lurking on Bluesky and Mastodon instead. Do we need both? I'm not sure. Mastodon is nice, if a little quiet. Bluesky has an early Twitter feel to it that makes me optimistic that we can rebuild.

Anything is better than what Twitter has become.

This is a journal entry. It was worth mentioning at the time but I probably won't make changes to it, other than to fix mistakes. It was last updated .
