Big Weekend, fat chance
Computer says no to Maidstone locals for Maidstone event.

So I received an email yesterday from BBC Radio 1 to tell me that my application for tickets to the Big Weekend event at Mote Park was unsuccessful.
We are very sorry to say that unfortunately you have not been allocated tickets for Radio 1's Big Weekend through the ballot. Over 518,000 people applied so you're not alone.
From talking to friends (and looking at the Facebook protest group) it would seem that despite the claim of priority being given to local residents, myself and lots of others have been relegated to listening to the radio or watching TV coverage of the action happening within walking distance.
Most ridiculous is the fact that people living on the edge of the park - the people who will be most inconvenienced by the arrival of over 30,000 people - have also been ignored.
The location was always controversial (it's debatable whether the area can cope with so many people) but the lack of tickets is really disappointing for those of us in Maidstone who did want to be part of it.
